The summary
Evi van Lanschot partnered with Ohpen to consolidate two digital investment platforms and build a scalable foundation for future growth. Together, they migrated 35,000 clients while maintaining uninterrupted service and expanded the platform to support savings, investments, pensions and supporting operations.
Today, around 180,000 accounts are administered on Ohpen, giving Evi the flexibility to launch new propositions faster and continue evolving its digital wealth offering.
About EVI
Evi van Lanschot is the digital savings and investments platform of Van Lanschot Kempen, the Netherlands’ oldest independent financial institution and today a leading wealth manager, with €188.2 billion in assets under management and €209.1 billion in client assets in H1 2026.
Launched in 2013, Evi brings the bank’s private banking expertise to a far wider audience: an accessible, fully digital way to save and invest, with a personal touch.
Evi’s ambition is to be where the wealthy client of the future starts their journey. That demands a platform that is as modern as the proposition, able to launch new products quickly, migrate clients safely and scale without friction. This also supports Van Lanschot Kempen’s broader strategy of scalable wealth management growth.
The challenge
Merging two live platforms without closing the shop
When Van Lanschot Kempen completed the acquisition of Robeco’s online investment platform in July 2023, Evi van Lanschot became one of the leading online investment platforms in the Netherlands, with a combined base of around €7 billion in assets under management and about 150,000 clients at the time of completion. Behind that scale sat two digital propositions — Robeco ONE and Evi — with overlapping client needs, live portfolios, a broad product range across investments, savings and pensions, and a level of manual work in core processes that stood in the way of the growth Evi was built for.
The task was as delicate as it was ambitious: integrate the platforms and product ranges into one scalable proposition, migrate 35,000 clients to the new generation of Evi products and strip manual intervention out of core processes, all while both platforms kept serving customers every single day. The migration had to happen without disrupting the day-to-day service provided to clients.
That called for a core banking partner that could configure new products at speed, execute a large-scale migration with precision and bring deep knowledge of the existing platform. Ohpen already knew the environment: Robeco’s platform had been running on Ohpen since 2012, as the launching client of the world’s first cloud-native core banking engine.
The solution
New products first, then a phased migration
Together with Ohpen, Evi developed its new product set and began migrating once the products were configured, starting with a small pilot group of employees to gather insights, followed by two larger migration waves.
Today, Evi runs its full savings and investments operation on Ohpen’s cloud-native platform, supported by a range of modules: client onboarding and screening, CRM and client communication, BI and reporting, portfolio management and fiscal products. The collaboration runs at every level — strategic, tactical and operational — with a continuous joint dialogue on innovation and the product roadmap.
“The entire migration went very smoothly. Within just a year and a half, we successfully completed the project in close collaboration with Ohpen. Ohpen played a crucial role in making this project a success, and we’re very proud of what we achieved together.”
– Joost van ‘t Hullenaar, Executive Director Digital Banking, Van Lanschot Kempen
The impact
A platform built for the next decade of digital wealth
The migration marked an important step in a partnership that has continued to develop. With roughly 180,000 accounts now administered on the Ohpen platform, Evi has a foundation that enables a focused digital team to deliver a private-banking-grade proposition at retail scale. It directly supports Van Lanschot Kempen’s wider focus on scalable growth, operational leverage and digital client engagement.
More importantly, the platform turned product development from a constraint into a capability. Where launching something new once meant a lengthy project, Evi now designs, configures and releases new propositions together with Ohpen, from fiscal savings products to new investment offerings.
The partnership continues to evolve. Evi and Ohpen will keep developing the platform together, supporting new propositions, reaching more savers and investors and responding to increasingly individualised wealth and pension needs.
